For getting blessings from one's favourite deity, one should, ..........
A person who is interested in getting the blessings from one's favourite deity should offer a PARASOL (decorated umbrella) during the procession time when the Lord is taken out around the temple. Preferably the parasol should be made of the following material for the respective gods.
(1) For Lord Shiva - Bilva leaves
(2) For Lord Maha Vishnu - Tulsi leaves and Red Lotus flowers
(3) For Lord Muruga - Jasmine flowers
(4) For Lord Ganapathy - Arukampul (Bermuda Grass) and Red Lotus flowers
(5) For Goddess Durga/Parvathy - Jasmine flowers and Red Lotus flowers
(6) For Goddess Maha Lakshmi - Red Lotus flowers
(7) For Goddess Saraswathi - White Lotus flowers
